Grand-Am: James to Return to Starworks for Homestead-Miami

What Happens When Contracts Are an Ever-Changing Thing

12:52am EST — Ian James, who was recently profiled in the Driver Profile series at On Any Sunday, These Days, will again race for Starworks Motorsport at the Gran-Am Grand Prix of Miami.  He will partner Bill Lester as he did at the Rolex 24 at Daytona a month ago in the #7 car, with the team fielding a second car, #8, driven by Mike Forest and 2010 Rolex winner Ryan Dalziel.  James has been racing in the Rolex 24 at Daytona since 2000, and was the ALMS LMP2 champion in 2004, finished 3rd at Le Mans in LMP2 in 2006, and 3rd in British F3 championship in 1997, ahead of Justin Wilson and Mark Webber.  Originally from England, James now lives in Arizona, having moved to the States in about 1994 to work at the Skip Barber racing School.  To learn more about the Rolex (and what happened for James and the rest of the Starworks team) and the coverage offered both here and at Formula1Blog, check out “Finally Available: Interviews and More from the Rolex 24 at Daytona” here at On Any Sunday, These Days.

Interestingly enough, Dion von Moltke, the fourth driver for Starworks alongside James, Lester, and Forest at the Rolex, will also be racing at Miami, though with the #77 Doran Racing team.  The second race of the Grand-Am season, practices begin Friday, March 5, with the race starting at 5pm, Saturday, March 6.
