di Montezemolo Continues to Speak Out, Threatens to Leave F1

What Happens When, Again, Any Publicity is Good Publicity

1:47am EST — Recently Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo met with various members of the F1 press for a little bit of Christmas publicity.  Some of his remarks can be found at the Ferrari website, while others have been published at Autosport.  While none are a polemic as di Montezemolo can be when he wants to be, he has made it clear that there are changes he expects from Formula1, both through the FIA and Bernie Ecclestone’s FOM.  di Montezemolo’s suggestions for the future are simple, and many are what fans and his fellow team heads have already suggested: pretty grid girls, more overtaking, no testing ban, remaining at the cutting edge of technology, more interactions between drivers and the fans, decreased ticket prices, and less political maneuverings between the teams and the governing body.  Change begins at home, Luca, and it some of these updates may need Ferrari’s willingness to cooperate in order to be implemented, threats of “motivation somewhere else” notwithstanding.
