Baguette at Sauber on Thursday in Jerez (and Not Just Part of the Catering)

What Happens When It’s Too Easy to Mock Someone’s Name

12:02am EST — According to Autosport, Bertrand Baguette will test for the former BMW, soon-to-be Sauber team Thursday for the last day of the Jerez rookies test.  This will be the second team for which he will drive during this testing session, the last of 2009.  Baguette, who was profiled at Formula1Blog with the rest of the young drivers testing at Jerez this week, drove a Renault Tuesday, and was ninth fastest with a 1:20.511 (as compared to that day’s fastest time of 1:19.158 set by Andy Soucek and 1:19.055 by Sebastian Vettel in the previous Jerez test back in March).  While this switch has not officially been confirmed by Sauber, Autosport quoted the Belgian on Wednesday as saying, “I am very happy to be able to drive for Sauber.  It will be a second day for me – and it’s always good to get two days of testing instead of one.”

It will be most interesting to see how Baguette stacks up against Alexander Rossi and Esteban Gutierrez, who posted 1:20.227 and 1:20.190, respectively, in their drives Tuesday and Wednesday in the Sauber/BMW.
