UPDATE: Force India Management Changes Official

What Happens When Team Changes Are Made Just Before the End of the Season

2:35pm EST — According to Autosport, Force India’s chief operating officer, Simon Roberts, has been replaced by Otmar Szafnauer, previously of Honda.  Szafnauer had worked as vice president of Honda Racing Developments until the company left Formula1 during the off season before 2009.  Autosport writes that team owner Vijay Mallya and McLaren principal Martin Whitmarsh spoke to the team as a whole Wednesday at their home factory in England.  Roberts had come to Force India from McLaren and now returns to the team after his time at Force India.  Autosport says that, while the move has not been officially confirmed, Mallya will address the race team once he arrives in Brazil for this weekend’s GP.

UPDATE: 7:03pm — Roberts will remain in control of the day-to-day operations of Force India until November 2, according to Reuters.  Roberts had been exchanged to Force India as part of the cooperation agreement between the two Mercedes-powered teams signed at the end of last season, and an official statement from Mallya said Wednesday, “he was always on secondment and we knew we would have to let him return to the McLaren fold.”
