Williams to Use Cosworth Engines in 2010?

What Happens When Price Helps Sweeten the Deal

12:07am EST — According to SPEEDtv, Williams will run Cosworth engines for the 2010 Formula1 championship.  While the American television channel’s website admits that the deal will not be announced for some time, it suggests that, while Williams might have preferred Renault engines, the Cosworth deal was more economical.  This would also make Williams the standard for new entrants USF1, Campos Meta, and Manor (Virgin) GP, all having signed contracts with Cosworth before their entries for 2010 were accepted by the FIA.  More information will be published when available.  Substantiating this story is the release Williams have requested from their 2010 contract with Toyota as engine supplier.  According to Reuters, Toyota F1 President John Howett said at the Japanese GP Friday, “We have a binding agreement for next year and [Williams] have asked us to release them. Our position is that if they don’t want it then fine, we are talking to other people for a supply.”
