Timo Glock Not Driving for Toyota in 2010

What Happens When a Contract is a Motivational Tool

2:38pm EST — According to Sport Bild and Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, John Howett, Toyota team principal, told Timo Glock that the team would not be taking the option in his contract to continue their partnership in 2010 during the Singapore GP weekend.  While this revelation does not mean the German has been fired from Toyota, nor does it mean that he cannot re-sign with the team, it does indicate that Glock will more than likely not be driving for Toyota in 2010.  Glock himself said that “now I have to look around,” and that his second place finish in Singapore was “certainly timely” in his quest to find a 2010 Formula1 contract.  This does add evidence to the long-standing speculation that Toyota will not be in F1 at all next season, since Jarno Trulli has not signed a contract for 2010, either.  Nor has parent company Toyota actually made financial commitments to F1 in their 2010 budget.  Look for a career-inspired performance from the German this weekend at Suzuka.
