Happy Promotional Testing, Mr. Badoer

What Happens When No One Bats an Eyelash

— According to ITV and Ferrari, Luca Badoer (test driver of longevity) will spend the next few days as “part of a video [shoot] for promotional purposes behind the wheel of the F60 at the Fiorano race track” in Italy.  This is a fabulous way of using the no testing loophole in the sporting regulations that allow “promotional or demonstration events carried out using tyres provided specifically for this purpose by the appointed supplier” to help Badoer to familiarize himself with the new controls and heretofore unknown variables of a car he has not tested for any length of time.  Presumably, since it is a video shoot, full speed laps and KERS usage will be required for validity of footage at the Ferrari track.  Badoer will, most definitely, be better prepared for his return to Formula1 at Valencia than true F1 rookie Jaime Alguersuari was for his debut at Hungary.
