Lorenzo Not Switching to Honda

What Happens When the Silly Season Starts to Coalesce

— While no official announcement that Jorge Lorenzo is staying at Fiat Yamaha for the 2010 season has been made, there has been an announcement precluding him from joining the most likely other team, Repsol Honda.  Honda has announced that it will retain its current rider lineup of Dani Pedrosa and Andrea Dovisioso, according to Crash.net.  It is now also confirmed that Valentino Rossi will remain at Fiat Yamaha, Marco Simoncelli will move up to the premier class with Gresini Honda, and Casey Stoner will remain at Ducati, barring any continued health issues.  With this information, the rest of the field should fall into line soon, as Lorenzo was widely considered to be holding up the contracts and shifting claims of many of the other riders.  The season begins again this weekend at Brno, in the Czech Republic, after a short summer break.

— UPDATE:  According to a report by MotoGPmatters.com, Dani Pedrosa’s manager, Alberto Puig, is denying his rider has signed with Honda for next season.  The earlier announcement by Tetsuo Suzuki is contracted by Puig’s assertion in an interview with Spanish TVE’s Marc Martin that the basic contracts have been agreed to, but are not signed because there are minor details to be ironed out.
